NPA is seeking a Non-Technical Survey Team Member for its program in Yemen.
Responsibilities.
In accordance with the NPA NTS Standard Operating Procedures, national guidelines for NTS and the NTS activity plan the NTS Surveyor will undertake NTS and provide EORE in designated communities performing the following tasks:
Specific duties:
- Act as an ambassador for NPA, through professionalism and conduct
- Conduct NTS in designated communities/areas;
- Function as interviewer during assessments of targeted communities;
- Function as data collector in targeted communities;
- Function as community liaison between stakeholders/actors;
- Conduct EORE in targeted communities;
- Maintain good communication with partner organizations;
- Maintain good relationships with other mine action interventions in the area including those involved in survey, marking and clearance to ensure good coordination and shared knowledge;
- Identified Hazards areas,
- Use handheld GPS, take coordinates
- Use compass, take compass bearings
- Drawing of maps
- Measuring distances on the ground
- Generating IMSMA reports
- Submitting Reports in S123
- Responsible for EORE and training aids, equipment, and materials (posters, banners, pamphlets, etc.) and maintenance of a documented inventory.
- Conduct pre- and post-training tests/surveys with project beneficiaries to measure project results.
- Any other business as required by NPA
- The NTS surveyor is expected to conduct their work in a loyal and efficient manner; show initiative and commitment towards the goals and objectives of the project, and Humanitarian Mine Action in general
- Any other duties as directed by the NTS TFM.
Required qualification
Education:
- A university degree preferably in sociology/social sciences/teaching
- Experience from working with teaching/education/social work
- Demining/BAC course
Must have:
- Survey/NTS/Community Liaison
- Verbal proficiency in English
- Computer Literacy
Desirable:
- Experience in working with Mine Action/ NGOs
Personal competencies
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good communication and understanding skills
- Able to work effectively under stressful situations, & adapt to, difficult conditions
- Willingness & ability to travel within the country
