Fire Service Technician - Oil & Gas

Job Description

The role of the Fire Fighting Technician is to conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of the firefighting trucks and equipment as and when required by Line Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of all firefighting trucks and equipment as requested by Supervisor and client;
• Provide periodic inspection and maintenance of the non-chassis systems of the vehicles including but not limited to PTO drive systems, lockers and hamper, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatics systems, fire and hydraulic pumps, prime movers, cranes / lifting equipment (including load tests) etc. and for the miscellaneous vehicles, items such as engines, drive system, hydraulic system, a/c, boom etc. in accordance with the specifications and recommendations of the vehicle OEMs, as well as the activities listed in the Service / Check Sheets;
• Install, replace, fix and maintain materials and spare parts associated with firefighting equipment;
• Identify faults and troubleshoot failures and breakdown of firefighting equipment;
• Complete necessary documentation pertaining to all work undertaken – i.e. daily maintenance and inspection reports and maintain database and manual filing system;
• Liaise with Service Supervisor for supply of spare parts consumables required to maintain work;
• Maintain all tools and equipment in working order and keep its inventory;.
• Take an active part in Toolbox talks, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), risk assessment and any other safety duty.

Qualification, Experience, Skills:

• Have a valid technical certification as mechanic technician (3 years study) attested by the official authorities;
• Capable to read and understand the technical manuals in English language;
• Have proven experience in maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, fitting, turning, and the like;
• Read electrical and mechanical diagrams, drawings or specifications to determine job requirements;
• Test for, locate and repair electrical and mechanical malfunctions;
• Have minimum of five (05) years maintenance experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic motors and systems or similar equipment;
• Have basic computer skills and able to write a report.
