Job Summary:
The IT and Compliance Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s IT systems while ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. This dual-role position involves overseeing the day-to-day IT operations, managing cybersecurity measures, and ensuring that the company’s practices align with relevant standards. The IT and Compliance Officer serves as the key point of contact for compliance-related issues and plays a critical role in protecting the organization’s information assets.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Management:
- IT Operations: Oversee the daily operations of IT systems, including network management, hardware and software maintenance, and user support.
- Cybersecurity: Implement and manage cybersecurity measures to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure from threats. This includes firewalls, encryption, anti-virus software, and other security tools.
- System Administration: Ensure the proper functioning of all IT systems, including servers, databases, and networks. Perform regular updates, backups, and maintenance tasks.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to staff, addressing IT-related issues and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, ensuring that contracts are adhered to and services are delivered as expected.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of IT system failures or breaches.
Compliance Management:
- Policy Development and Enforcement: Develop, implement, and enforce compliance policies and procedures to ensure that the organization meets legal and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant regulations, such as data protection laws, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct regular audits and reviews to assess compliance with policies and procedures. Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to ensure understanding and adherence to compliance requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks associated with IT operations and other business activities.
- Incident Response: Investigate compliance breaches and IT incidents, recommend corrective actions, and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA, and compliance-related certifications like CCEP or CRISC are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in IT management, with additional experience in compliance or risk management roles. Experience in cybersecurity is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IT systems, network management, and cybersecurity practices. Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess compliance risks, analyze IT system performance, and recommend improvements.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and compliance-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with the capability to manage complex IT and compliance challenges.
- Project Management: Experience in managing IT projects and implementing compliance initiatives within a business environment.
Working Conditions:
- This role may require occasional travel to other company sites or for training and conferences.
