Job Overview:
A Senior Advance Work Packaging Specialist reports directly to the Project Manager and is responsible for the detailed advance work packaging and all associated activities either at a Work Area or Discipline level, for both self-perform and subcontracted works at the project site, as necessary to ensure the successful execution of the project.
To ensure the integrity of three (3) week look-ahead, the Sr AWP Specialist must interface directly with Construction Manager, Project Controls Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Information Managers, 3D model administrator, engineering manager, procurement manager and Material Management, to ensure data transfer and integration across the various systems and construction tools.
The detailed work planning, tracking and reporting is integral to the operational and commercial success of the construction phase of the project.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Advance Work Packaging (AWP) strategies and plans for large-scale construction projects.
- Lead a team of AWP specialists and coordinators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful execution of AWP activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project objectives and scope related to AWP.
- Identify critical work packages and sequences that align with project schedules and resource constraints.
- Conduct thorough feasibility assessments and risk analyses for AWP plans, making adjustments as necessary to meet project goals.
- Monitor and track AWP progress, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions to keep the project on track.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices in all AWP activities.
- Manage communication and coordination between various project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers involved in the AWP process.
- Review and optimize AWP-related documents, including work packages, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Provide regular reports and updates to project stakeholders, highlighting AWP achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the AWP team, implementing innovative solutions and best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and advancements in AWP methodologies to enhance project performance.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of (05) years of experience in project management, with a focus on Advance Work Packaging for construction projects.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
- Strong knowledge of AWP principles, methodologies, and software tools.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
