We are working with a Major Oil & Gas operator to source a Lead of Machinery EPC-1. This is a long-term contract role working on a residential basis. Please see details below.


Title: Lead of Machinery EPC-1


Start Date: ASAP (typically within 1 month notice)


Duration: 36 Months


Location: Qatar Site / Doha HQ


Working Schedule: 6 days per week / 10 hours per day


Experience Required


Job Purpose


  • Responsible for overseeing detail engineering design activities, factory acceptance tests, construction, and commissioning and start-up of machinery equipment.
  • Oversee EPC contractor machinery packages with timely reviews of vendor and contractor documents as well as other detail engineering machinery related responsibilities. Ensures machinery design activities (e.g. project specifications, data sheets, detailed design, design studies, commissioning procedures, etc.) are fully developed during EPC to comply with project technical and execution requirements.
  • Oversee and support contractor in installation and precomissioning of machinery. Transition to and work in the project commissioning organization. Responsible for the commissioning and start-up of machinery packages.


Key Job Accountabilities


  • Project experience with detail design and commission and start-up of: heavy duty industrial gas turbines in both mechanical drive and power generation service, large (>20MW) industrial centrifugal compressors, turbo-expanders, hydraulic turbines, LNG submersible pumps, large API (>2MW) vertical pumps, API centrifugal pumps, rotary screw pumps and compressors, magnetic bearings, dry gas seals, etc.
  • Accountable for a quality design of machinery engineering deliverables, including design safety aspects and execution planning of machinery field activities. Leads machinery design and coordination amongst other disciplines. Reviews and processes work activities, discussing and determining priorities in conjunction with Engineering Manager and Heads of Process, Electrical, Mechanical, disciplines together with Operations and Engineering Advisors to ensure that project deliverables are met.
  • Provides guidance to EPC contractor to complete machinery design per project specifications in a timely manner and provides clear direction when project instructions or specifications are not clear.
  • Key effort to support interfacing and work coordination between key vendors (Baker Hughes, Flowserve, Elliott-Ebara, Mitsubishi, etc) and EPC contractor to ensure quality and execution objectives are met.
  • Works in construction and commissioning organization to ensure field execution at site meets project plans. Develops, reviews, and executes commissioning checksheets, checklists for systems completion. Develops and oversees punchlists and closeouts. Pre-start-up checks for machinery.
  • Dry gas seal system commissioning, machinery piping alignment, machinery shaft alignment, solo runs, lube oil flushing, soft-foot check, coupling installation check, etc.
  • Identify deficiencies in performance of machinery against contractual requirements and initiate and fully define warranty claims.
  • Ensures plans and procedures are developed and design safety aspects are incorporated to mitigate any safety risks for machinery execution activities.


Qualifications


--Minimum Requirements--


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in machinery design, fabrication, installation and commissioning in a major LNG Projects and working in a project environment


Knowledge and Key Skills


  • Detailed knowledge of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, cryogenic pumps, LNG loading pumps, large boil-off gas compressors, and general pump/compressor experience
